Wills Park Youth Baseball

Dear Potential Coaches for the 2010 Spring Rec League,

If you would like to be considered for a coaching position in the 2010 spring rec baseball league, you must send John Drakeford (drakeford@wpyba.org ) an email informing him of your interest and desire to be considered.  You will be put onto a list of other potential coaching candidates.  The board will review the list of potential coaches and will try to make the final decisions by mid-December.

Please be advised that you are not guaranteed a coaching spot just because you coached the previous year.  You have to apply each year, be selected by the board and of course, pass the city’s mandated background check.  This applies to the league representatives also.   If you are interested in being a league representative, you must let us know and then be selected.  Anyone operating outside of this direction is in error and we are not obligated to any agreements or understandings.

If you have already sent an email, there is no need to send another unless you want to add something (like being the league rep).

Additional notes –

    - We will have a National division (4 teams) and American division (all other teams) for both the 9/10 and the 11/12 leagues.  If you wish to be a coach for the National division specifically, you need to let John know specifically.  The board will conduct interviews for the National division coaches on December 10th and 17th.

    - The park has a new policy about playing up  (i.e. a 10 year old wants to play in the 11/12 league).  The parent no longer gets to simply make the choice.  The player has to submit a request to play up (to John Drakeford or Shawn Hampton) and then be evaluated by both leagues.  The player has to be in the top 1/3 of the league they are asking to play up in to be put into the draft.  If not, they player must play at their natural age league.  This applies to all players, regardless if they have played up in the past.

    - If you would like to be considered for the 12 year old Cooperstown OOP team, you need to send John a note, by Friday, November 27th, that you would like to be considered.  If you have already sent a note, there is no need for another.
